Right from the gown that they gave me in the labour room to the various outfits I bought to help me achieve my nursing goals with ease and comfort, was a blessing in disguise to help me and my baby be at ease. Yes, the market has a lot of options now available for specialised maternity and nursing wear where the focus is on comfort to the mother and child while nursing on the move or at home.

This segment of the market has encouraged a lot of mothers to nurse, pump, be stylish and continue to travel, work and attend various events.

Maternity bump and bum are now made memorable with photoshoots, baby showers and babymoons. After all the curves, the lusciously thick hair and that bright baby glow are there only until the baby is in.

Let’s not shy away from saying that dressing up does brighten and lighten up your mood, so why not kill those baby blues with whatever colour you choose. And of course, make those trips to satisfy your food cravings into date nights. Or those days of lazy catchup or brunching with your gals and family a photo-worthy moment. After all time flies and memories are imprinted forever.

So for me the search initially began with garments that will accommodate the growing bump, the choices narrowed down jersey dresses, legging, A-line dresses and boyfriend T-shirts. Then as I was nearing my delivery date, I wanted to invest in button-down dresses or kurtas so as to be able to breastfeed.

I do think there is a lot that can still be altered to give more stylize motherhood. So we conceptualised our brand Mamacherub. Our process starts with the choices of fabrics according to season so the hot flushes, perspiration, and chills are easy to deal with. Our styles will make the walkthrough maternity a breeze, for example, our cotton pants with side ties that allow size elasticity and an airy tummy for your baby. Our designs have zip and buttons for feeding comfortably. And yes in all this we couldn’t stay calm without ensuring the little one’s calmness so their outfits are designed to keeping their kicks and crawls in mind.
